CHELLA...

It's that time of year once more, where baby birds emerge from eggs, lambs spring from the wombs of their mothers to grapple with the realities of life, and every Brit between the ages of 16 and 22 sits around, revising for exams, wishing they could be at Coachella. Only the coolest and best festival EVER.

How do I know this, I hear you cry?

Well, truth be told I have never myself attended the festival of music, sunshine and beauty (as I like to think of it), but as a fairly regular gig-goer and festival attendee (who in this country isn't) it has always seemed to me to be like the holy grail of music festivals, although this may be largely shaped by the annual street style shots by the likes of Mr Newton et al, where all the people in sight are gorgeous, young, cool and stylish, basking in the Cali sun. Damn them.

Anyway, to give you an idea of what I mean I thought I'd re-post a few of my favourite shots so far this year, most of which were again, shot by the genius Mr Newton.

Whilst I am madly in love with Katy Perry's choice of outfit in the final photo (when else can you wear a totally sheer floral maxi if not in the middle of the desert at a festival) having had many festival experiences in my time, I understand the value of practicality over gorgeous floatiness. (Well, unless you are - as I'm sure Katy is - staying in a plush 5 star hotel rather than a tent.) For that reason it has to be picture 4 that tugs most at my sartorial heartstrings. Lace up shorts have been laying like a heavy burden on my mind of late, not least because of the difficulty in finding the right pair. The reddish-brown denim works perfectly against the warm taupe desert hues and the simplicity of the outfit is perfectly complimented by the bright chiffon wrap, practical yet nevertheless adding a hint of the ethereal to an outfit that otherwise ticks all the boxes of rock chick 101. Not, I might add, that there is ever anything wrong with that!

Hopefully I'll be a bit better about posting now, so until next time....
